What is coaching?
Coaching involves an ongoing partnership between the coach and the client which is about taking action and moving forward. Coaches help people reframe their perspectives and create a plan with a view to making the changes they want in their lives, meeting their goals and fulfilling their dreams. They provide, therefore, support, enhance skills, resources and creativity that the client already has.
Coaching is a life investment for everyone who wants to ameliorate their lives and is built upon respect, integrity, listening, hearing, support, encouragement, caring, acknowledgement, and action.
How much does it cost?
The cost of a session depends on the length of the session, individual coaches and geographical location. Moreover, different niche areas charge different rates. Group coaching is always more affordable for clients.
Do you provide assessments and other types of testing?
I usually provide written feedback for my clients, and send them a preparation form to fill in prior to the sessions
How can you coach effectively over the phone rather than in person?
Coaching over the phone firstly eliminates time and money expanses, as neither the coach nor the client needs to travel in order to meet one another. It can, therefore, enable a client to work with a coach who lives in a different city or country, and vice versa. Secondly, it removes the visual distractions that occur during face to face interactions and thus, both the client and the coach remain totally focused on the conversation. Thirdly, during the session the client and the coach are situated in an environment, usually at their home or office, which is familiar to them, and by extension, helps them feel more comfortable and relaxed.
What credentials do coaches have?
Coaches are not supposed to be trained as counsellors or psychologists. However, they are expected to have undergone training and become accredited afterwards through a coaching training provider such as the International Coach Academy. In addition, most of the certified coaches do join a professional body such as the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and become aligned with their code of ethics.
Where have you been trained to be a coach?
I completed the 132 hour student contact Certified Professional Coach training Programme provided by the International Coach Academy, which is accredited with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
How soon can the client expect to see the results?
The initial results of a good coaching relationship can be seen after the first or even after the discovery session. However, in many cases results become apparent after a series of a few sessions. It is worth saying that the results correlate with what the client needs, what they want to achieve, and how committed they are. For instance, there are clients with specified goals who want to take immediate action, while others want to take a slow pace in order to become aware of what they really need and follow their path to change.
How long people work with a coach?
People usually work with a coach over a span of 3 months. That involves 12 sessions taking place on a weekly basis, and it may also include an unlimited e-mail support. However, special arrangements can be made for a longer or a shorter period of time.
How long will my sessions be?
The length of the sessions usually fluctuates between 45 and 60 minutes.
I am a busy person, how flexible are you?
Due to the fact that I do have a full time job myself, I usually coach my clients on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, usually in the evening. My time zone is WET (Greece). I can provide flexibility during the evening hours as well as in terms of the length of the sessions.
Why would I hire a coach if I can discuss my issues with my family/partner/ best friend?
Coaching does not undermine the value of a close human relationship. It just offers something different and valuable: someone who is close to you is very likely to get emotionally charged, and sometimes even biased, by hearing you talking about something you find hard to do and also, they may try to fix things for you. A coach in contrast, will offer you objective and a non-judgmental feedback. They will also be committed to support you to find your own way to fulfill your dreams and achieve your goals, no matter what your dreams and goals might be.
What if I begin coaching and suddenly realize it is not working?
One of the pillars of coaching is truth telling. Thus, if you feel that it is not working for you the first thing you can do is discuss it with your coach, so as to pinpoint what is not working and see if and how you and your coach can address it. Then, if you still find it hard to proceed with the sessions, you are free to terminate the agreement.
